Head of Outdoor Education

Boomerang Adventures is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join us as The Head of Outdoor Education.

Boomerang Adventures is involved in a broad range of activities for schools that enhance learning outside the classroom. Our programs are varied and take place at multiple venues including wilderness areas as well as interstate and international locations. The programs are of varying lengths and include extended stay (up to 18 days).

If you have a passion for the Outdoor Education Industry and are highly organised with excellent attention to detail then you are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will become a senior member of our highly skilled team.

The Head of Outdoor Education will be responsible for the implementation of our Outdoor Education programs. In this position your major goal will be to direct quality programs for our clients.

The role will include administration, client liaison, developing, planning and directing of programs, risk assessments as well as follow up with our clients.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience in organising and running Outdoor Education camps for students or similar

  • Honesty and reliability

  • Very good time management and planning skills

  • The ability to work under pressure

  • Be extremely well organised with a desire to take initiative and be resourceful

  • Be dedicated to achieving the highest levels of safety and operational efficiency

  • The ability to meet and engage with Head Teachers, Camp Co-Ordinator’s and School Principals

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Experience in managing a team of staff

  • Ability to develop and maintain a healthy team environment

  • Competency with office duties and computer work

  • Flexible, fun loving, enthusiastic and hard working

  • Current Working With Children Check Number

  • Current Wilderness First Aid qualifications

    This is a full time permanent position with a very attractive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience. Approximately 40% of the role will be field based.

    The starting date for this position is flexible.
