Senior Risk and Compliance Consultant

 

Reporting to the General Manager Risk and Compliance, you will be an integral member of the Risk and Compliance team, responsible for ownership of enterprise risk and compliance frameworks, and broader management of risk across broad and remote geographies, services and sectors.


As Senior Risk and Compliance Consultant the focus will be:

  • Leading the uplift of risk management tools, practices, and policies to assess and manage enterprise risks;
  • Oversight of the legislative and regulatory landscape for The Salvation Army in Australia, including response to obligations and requirements;
  • Collaboration with multiple stakeholders and functional departments to foster a team-based approach and risk-aware culture;
  • Preparation of strategic level reports and submissions to executive management and Board Audit and Risk Committee; and
  • Development and delivery of risk and compliance management training programs.


To be successful in this role, you will have a degree in Law, Commerce, Finance or equivalent, ideally with a minimum of 6 years’ risk and compliance management experience, and a working knowledge of Australian Risk and Compliance standards. While not essential, relevant experience in the Health Services, Social Services, Government or Not for Profit sectors would be favourable.

Key capabilities include

  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work in consultation and collaboration with staff at all levels including members of the Board, executive team, senior leaders and personnel;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare reports using clear, concise language and data; organise information into a logical sequence and include content appropriate for the purpose and audience;
  • Highly developed work organisation and project management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging needs;
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, support and influence organisational change and commitment to achieving a top-down, bottom-up risk awareness culture;
  • Excellent time management and ability to work on numerous tasks with multiple departments simultaneously;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated experience in Compliance or Risk Management in (1st, 2nd or 3rd line);
  • Working knowledge of ASIC and ACNC regulations, Australian Charity and Company Law and their practical applications;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, and ability to critically and analytically solve problems.


The successful candidate will ideally hold;

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Law or an associated discipline
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Risk Management, or equivalent
