About AFES
The Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES) seeks to fulfil a Christ-
centred and bible-based Mission of ‘proclaiming Jesus Christ at university’. It has
been doing this work since 1930 in partnership and as a fellowship of student led
affiliates. The AFES now has affiliate groups at most universities.

The AFES National Office, based in Kingsford Sydney, is an important support service to staff and students across the nation.   It is essential that applicants have a personal commitment to Christ and alignment with the vision, mission and values of AFES.(see )

Role Summary
This role is a chance to use your outstanding organisational and event management skills to directly have an impact in a vibrant ministry setting.  AFES has an established schedule of well attended national events that involve careful planning and organisation.   In conjunction with other AFES national staff and directors this role is to provide assistance and management in all aspects of event organizing, including administration, planning, site and vendor management, publicity and promotion, registrations, travel, conference materials etc.   Events include all internal and external conferences associated with AFES.

This is a highly fulfilling role as these conferences and events impact many lives which has a ripple effect throughout the organisation.   You will play a significant part in the success of these events.   You will also be working alongside committed, supportive people, forming close knit teams.  Knowledge and experience in successful event planning and execution is vital. 

This position is full time based at the AFES National Office, Kingsford.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Work with various conference teams to ensure provision of excellent conference outcomes for organisers and attendees as well as other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the overall planning and program for all conferences
  • Provide professional conference admin services to external clients who utilise AFES for conference registration services and management.
  • Liaise with affiliate campus groups 
  • Contribute to achieving other office team deliverables, as required. 
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Servant-hearted and a heart aligned with the ministry of AFES.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Sound knowledge of event management  principles and practices.
  • Previous experience in successful participation in conference, camps and/or event organisation.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team environment
  • High computer literacy with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • This role would suit a graduate or a person with experience in a similar role.
