Psychologist - Western Sydney (part time)

The headfyrst project is an integrated AOD and mental health comorbidity counselling service that aims to provide evidence based treatment for young people aged 12-25 in the Western Sydney region presenting with comorbidity mental health and alcohol and other drugs. The program is designed to improve mental health and alcohol and other drugs comorbidity outcomes. The headfyrst program is an integrated AOD and mental health service co located at headspace offices in Western Sydney. The headfyrst program provides an innovative, stepped care model with a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to co morbidity treatment.

The role will report to the Salvation Army Youthlink’s headfyrst Coordinator.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology
  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Clinical experience in providing evidence based treatment
  • Ability to build rapport and engage with young people.
  • WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation.
  • Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
  • Experience in the delivery of AOD/MH services inclusive of specialist skills in assessing, managing and treating clients with AOD/MH related problems in a cross cultural setting.
  • Have a clear understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health and AOD issues among young people.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to impart knowledge in a learning environment
  • Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery
  • Have a high degree of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience with report writing and electronic client information management systems.
  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • A current driver’s license.
