Job Description:

Wesley Homelessness Services - Central Coast Families

• full-time position
• based in Gosford
• immediate start

About us
Wesley Mission is a high profile, multi-faceted Christian organisation making a real difference in the community. We work with the most disadvantaged in our community by providing over 200 services ranging from aged care, homeless services, child and family care, counselling, employment, training and education, and health services.

Our Vision is “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and motivated person to lead our small team delivering services to families experiencing homelessness or homeless-risk throughout the Central Coast.

The role works very closely with partner organisations, government agencies, housing providers and other local community welfare services – to ensure that the families we serve receive appropriate and quality services and that we genuinely do all we can to make sure their next move is forward – leaving homelessness for good.

This is a demanding but rewarding role, requiring initiative, resilience, collaboration, creativity, sound judgement and genuine compassion.  It sets the tone for service and champions our model and our approach to care and our values.

Job Requirements:

Essential criteria
• professional qualifications and experience relevant to high quality provision of accommodation, care and support activities – including the leadership and guidance of others engaged in it
• sound understanding of family homelessness and an ease in providing warm and credible empathy to people who are at risk of, who are, or who have been homeless – often at their most distressed or vulnerable
• ability to articulate a practice framework that is person centred, trauma informed, culturally competent and respectful of diversity, and the role of case management in supporting permanent exits from homelessness
• proven ability to perform in very complex and challenging community welfare settings – flexible and creative approaches to work, matched with tested personal attributes such as resilience, patience, initiative, compassion and commitment to self-care
• emotional intelligence, ability to teach and be taught, to lead and be led, and to supervise and be supervised
• knowledge and experience relevant to responding to children at risk of serious harm
• excellent communication skills and administrative competencies – computer literacy, documentation, data collection, etc
• ability to embrace Wesley Mission’s values and to work within its codes of ethics and conduct – and to work respectfully alongside the mission and values of partner organisations

Desirable criteria
• local, sector or organisational knowledge
• familiarity with sector practice guidelines, information systems and outcome measures

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 with generous salary packaging and full maintained branded motor vehicle available.
