About Generate Ministries

Generate Ministries is a Christian not-for-profit organisation that employs School Chaplains and SRE High School teachers. Generate is the largest Chaplaincy provider in NSW.

About School Chaplaincy

Chaplains assist schools to provide holistic care for students including social, emotional, physical and spiritual support.

This includes:

  • Helping students and families to re-connect with school communities, encouraging stronger engagement in school life.  
  • Supporting students at risk and assist parents and carers in accessing school programs and services.
  • Providing a valuable addition to the wellbeing services of schools.
  • Providing a qualified pastoral carer able to address spiritual matters with students, staff and the broader community particularly during times of crisis, grief and loss.
  • Facilitating community groups to assist their local school communities in a structured, productive way.
We currently have over 20 Chaplaincy/Student Wellbeing Support Officer positions available across NSW.  Each position is part-time with hours ranging from 5 hours to 20 hours per week.

Job Requirements:

All Chaplains/Student Wellbeing Support Officers must be qualified

School Chaplains are required to have as a minimum a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care (or designated equivalent). Generate has an additional requirement of completion, or working towards, a theological or ministry qualification.

Degree or diploma-qualified candidates in education, social work, psychology, welfare, youth work or ministry will be highly regarded.

Experience with Youth/ Children
A proven ability to work effectively with young people and a broad understanding of youth/children and issues affecting them

Pastoral Care
A demonstrated understanding of the boundaries and practicalities involved in providing pastoral care to a state school community

A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a range of settings

A demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team and independently

Experience in Schools and Education
Proven effective involvement in and a demonstrated understanding of the operation of State schools
