Job Description:

Kinder Teacher
Large multi-campus Christian school
Leongatha location
Part-time ongoing position (approximate 0.6 FTE)

Chairo Christian School is a growing non-denominational Christian school, with over 1,500 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south eastern outskirts of Melbourne.
Our mission is to provide excellence in Christ-centred education in partnership with families within a caring Christian community. In doing this, we aim to prepare students thoroughly for further study, careers, service and life in general.

Due to consistent growth and increased demand, a new Kinder facility is being established at our Leongatha Campus. We are therefore seeking to appoint a Kinder teacher from January 2019 onwards. Responsible to Chairo’s Director of Early Learning, the Kinder teacher will also receive regular leadership and support from the Principal at the Leongatha Campus.

The Kinder teacher will play an important and exciting role in establishing the new Kinder, while their ongoing purpose is to ensure that their classroom is well-administered and curriculum is delivered, and that the classroom operates smoothly within the guidelines and policies set by the Board and Executive Leadership.
Some other responsibilities will include:
  • providing a godly example to students and fellow staff members through their teaching practice, manner, relationships and general lifestyle;
  • supporting, encouraging and nurturing students;
  • being responsible for devising and carrying out daily activities to fulfil the aims and objectives set out in our educational policies and mission statement; and
  • actively initiating and engaging in positive communication with students, parents and staff members.
Having obtained tertiary qualifications and experience in early childhood learning, the successful candidate will also possess the following important characteristics:
  • Demonstrated commitment to the school’s Articles of Faith
  • Appropriate registration and compliance with the standards of Professional Practice as required by the VIT (Victorian Institute of Teaching)
  • Thorough knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Quality Improvement frameworks as well as the Practice Principles
  • Well-informed regarding current educational practices and philosophies both within the Christian school movement and alternative education
  • Sound knowledge of teaching from a Christian worldview perspective
