Operations Manager (OM), Lachlan Macquarie Institute, Canberra Region

We have an exciting full-time two-year contract role commencing 1 July 2018 for an Operations Manager at the Lachlan Macquarie Institute’s Centre for Leadership and Public Service (CLPS).

The aim of the role is to manage and maintain Lachlan Macquarie Institute’s property and its operating systems, as well as to assist the Resident Scholar and Programme Manager (RSPM) in administration, hospitality and leadership.

The key accountabilities of the role include budgetary preparation; property management; risk management; and logistics for programmes and delegates.

The required skills and experience include:

  • • Display in both private and professional life Christian character that will give proper representation of the Centre for Leadership and Public Service, and its purposes
  • • Project management, calling for tenders, managing quotations and contracts
  • • High level property maintenance and refurbishment skills
  • • High level of expertise in IT, telecommunications and internet
  • • Managing and reporting against project management databases
  • • Budgeting and financial management skills
  • • Excellent listening skills
  • • Excellent personal organization and discipline
  • • Hospitality skills
  • • Well-developed leadership skills
  • • Pastoral care skills
  • • Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines
  • • Ongoing commitment to professional development
  • • Demonstrated commitment to the Institute’s values through active engagement with local church
  • • Demonstrated expertise in IT and communications
  • • Success in land care, farming, property maintenance, building and refurbishing, and pest extermination
  • • Demonstrated professionalism, including timely and reliable communication
  • • Experience in event organisation, hospitality, community living and managing a team
  • • Experience in pastoral care, as well as conflict resolution and mediation
  • • An understanding of key concepts relating to law, theology, philosophy and public policy.
  • • An understanding of the Australian Political system

The role requires a proven track record in property maintenance, building and refurbishing, managing small groups, and IT and communications. Graduation from the Lachlan Macquarie’s internship programme is advantageous, but not essential.
