St Luke's Church in South Melbourne requires a part-time Receptionist
with a minimum of 2 years experience. The appointed candidate will administer the Reception and Clerical Duties of the parish in accordance with the strategy and direction of the Wardens and Minister as described in the Position Description.
The position best suits a person with an active Christian faith, who is able to work independently and keep information of a sensitive or commercial nature confidential. As the church is located in an area with broad demographics, the Receptionist will be expected to engage all people making enquiries or seeking help with respect, compassion and sensitivity.
The position is expected to commence in February and is initially for 12 months, with a 3 month probation period. Hours of work are 20 hours per week, preferably Mon – Fri, 9:00am – 1:00pm. The hourly rate being offered is $23. Some flexibility may be required from time to time and overtime will be paid for additional approved hours.
As the first point of contact for visitors and clients the Receptionist will create a positive, professional and welcoming environment. Responsibilities involve answering calls, incoming and outgoing mail, responding to email correspondence, preparing agendas and minutes, preparation of a weekly church newsletter and the Sunday Service PowerPoint, liaising with the Minister, Bookkeeper, Treasurer and Church Wardens, banking, managing petty cash, invoicing, managing booking enquiries for the use of our facilities, liaising with contractors/tradespeople, and overseeing the general maintenance of the church buildings and property. A good command of the English language and strong communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Applicants must have full working entitlements and be living in Australia to be considered for this position.
